LocationLucky Bansko complex is located at the entrance of Bansko, at the foot of Pirin Mountain, Bulgaria. Bansko lies 160 km (including 120 km motorway) south of Sofia (or about two hours' drive from Sofia Airport) and 150 km from the Greek sea resort of Kavala. In recent years Bansko has held a leading place among winter ski resorts in Bulgaria, becoming the object of visits by foreign tourists with increasing frequency. It is not by chance that The Financial Times recently named Bansko as the best ski resort in Eastern Europe. The newspaper pointed out that Bansko surpasses Pamporovo and Borovets (another two major Bulgarian ski resorts) in terms of number of pistes, their design and equipment. The evaluation was made after Bansko ranked first for the third year in a row among locations with the largest amount of investments in the preparation of the ski season with more than EUR 40 million. Ski runs and facilities
Pirin Mountain is of definitely alpine character. Ski runs providing excellent conditions for professional and amateur skiing have been developed at the resort. The network of ski lifts and tows is exceptionally good and has been developed with state-of-the-art technologies. The runs are safe and maintained in excellent condition. Although the snow cover remains from November to May, the winter season also has backup snow machines. Snowfall in the winter is abundant and provides a constant snow cover exceeding 3 metres. Mean temperature in the coldest month of January is -1.9 °С.
